I enjoyed seeing the aesthetics, the beauty, and the balance of the forms, realizing the principle of balance that exists in the game and that something seemingly inadequate or ugly can be the key to something great (hidden in its ugliness).
As the other courses from Vadim that I followed, this course is excellent. The explanations go at a very good pace (not too fast, neither too slow), with very interesting examples from real games (and from historic games, which I find very cool), very good and helpful analogies with music and other fields... I recommend this course.
My first course here and it's a good one. The music analogy is excellent. Looking forward to more courses now.
Perfect fundamentals course. Would have preferred it to be at the silver tier, but I understand why it's in gold. Excellent lessons building concepts step-by-step. Final quizzes are slightly esoteric but fantastic expansions on the material. No lazy answers allowed.
Good course
I found the course very interesting showing the idea about being light in the game, i learned a lot on how tomake good shapes and it gives us a perspective on how to play better moves, he explains it very well throughout the course. I could see in the pro games he shows how effective it is to play good shape.
Excellent introductory course. When reviewing speed it up super for revision.
This really helped me understand how shapes work! Great course!
Try to feel shape. People say that. What does it mean? After this course, I'm starting to feel shapes, strong and weak, secure and risky. Shape quality depends on the local environment and defies a simple mathematical characterization. That is frustrating and fascinating.
Starting with fundamentals that provide a basic understanding of good vs. bad shape and their potential, this course is a delightful experience that really helps students gain confidence when working with the basic building blocks of Go.
Even I, a very experienced and high level player, receive much from taking these more elementary courses. It is not a joke to say that shapes and fundamentals are the base functions of even the most legendary pro. It always pays to come back to this topic and refresh yourself and it always pays to keep an eye on your shape.
Clear, engaging introduction to fundamental shapes. They may seem elementary, but a good game of Go is built on these -- they never go out of style!
First of all, I love Music Go! More of that please. Second, I really appreciated how simple this course was kept in introducing only a handful of shapes. I also appreciated that it was shown how the simple shapes expand over the board. This course feels infinitely applicable to learning gameplay. Excellent.
I have started using more shape moves and found that the opponent can’t break into my territory as easily.
Foundational! Feels like building a solid house brick by brick. As always, engaging and effective teaching style. Thanks!
Great content, thank you !
improved my understanding of fundamental go shapes
Great course by a great teacher !
mandatory knowledge for all go players.
The course was good and introduced several important shape concepts that are essential to recognize. As constructive feedback, I felt there were too few shapes, and they weren't explored in enough depth. It would help to explain why each shape is good, how to play against it, and how to choose between different shapes in similar situations. Overall, it was a good introduction.
