Large knight's move enclosure

Oogeima-jimari refers to a corner enclosure made with a large knight’s move, typically from the 3-4 point to the 5-5 point. This shape is faster than the more compact 3-4 to 5-3 enclosure, offering greater influence towards the side while still maintaining significant territorial stability.

Strategically, it strikes a balance between the conservative small knight’s move enclosure and the looser high enclosures like the ogeima (3-4 to 5-4). Its flexibility makes it useful in fuseki strategies aiming for a mix of territory and outward development.

Despite its slightly wider gap, the oogeima-jimari remains resilient against common invasions and probing moves. It was especially popular during eras that favored speed and influence over tight territorial play.
