Zokusuji
Unsophisticated move, crude play
Zokusuji is a Japanese term that refers to a suboptimal or crude move — one that accomplishes a goal in a clumsy or inefficient way. These moves are typically contrasted with tesuji, the elegant and effective tactical moves in Go.
Zokusuji may result in loss of sente, strengthen the opponent unnecessarily, leave bad aji, or reduce one’s own territory.
