We used to believe that Go was such a complex game that machines would never be able to play it well. This game requires human creativity, we thought. Meanwhile the machines rose from the ashes of the nuclear fire. I mean, the computers were getting better and better, until one day there was a major breakthrough…
In this course we’ll start from the history of “artificial intelligence” as a concept, and then walk through the whole story of how AI finally came into the world of Go and how it changed this world for better or worse. They made a movie called “AlphaGo” that dramatically presented the events of the first AlphaGo matches. You are highly encouraged to watch that movie, because in this course, having retold the events of the movie, we are going beyond that, with a lot more detail, and into the present day.
Suitable for: 15k–9d. In order to fully enjoy some of the game reviews, 10k+ is recommended.
