The Samsung Cup is an international Go competition with the official name of The Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance World Masters Baduk that Ke Jie has won 4 times so far and the first time at only 18.

In the 20th Samsung Cup in 2015, Ke Jie faced Lee Sedol in the semifinals, which consisted of three games. 

On this occasion Ke Jie (white stones) played for the first time Lee Sedol and in this match Ke Jie demonstrated his ability to handle intense and complex fighting scenarios. 

Move 42 by Ke Jie initiates a complex sequence of fighting, showcasing his precise reading of the position. This move allows him to gain influence while simultaneously diminishing Lee Sedol’s territory. Then, in May of 2017, at the “Future of Go Summit” in Wuzhen, China, the then-world’s top-ranked Go player, Ke Jie played again in an event that drew the attention of Go players and enthusiasts worldwide. 

The Future of Go Summit was a five day festival that included a variety of game formats – including pair Go, team Go, and a 1:1 match with Ke Jie.
