Sente inverso

Reverse sente is particularly important in the endgame, where players compete for the most valuable moves. It’s a way to neutralize the opponent’s potential gains, even if it means sacrificing the initiative temporarily. For example, if the opponent has a sente hane-and-connect on the edge, playing the same hane yourself first is gote, but it is reverse sente: it removes the opponent’s sente follow-up.
