Let's review a few more games for extra practice

February 2025
(83)

After learning the rules of Go or perhaps some basic techniques, it’s normal if you still feel that a lot of questions were left unanswered. In fact no matter how much you learn, there is an element of mystery that’s always there. In this course we’ll review a few more games on 9×9 and 13×13 and at the same time answer some of the most commonly asked questions on the basics of Go. Let’s lift the veil of mystery together.

Suitable for: 25–15 kyu. For those who just finished “The Rules of Go” or “The Fundamentals of Go on 13×13”.

A big thanks to our problem composer Hoàng for finding great example games for this course.

The Go Magic courses are the best courses I've seen online. Video instructions followed by reinforcing quizzes is a great way to learn.

This course completes all the other beginner courses by bringing together all the theory and concepts and showing them all together in a beautiful way. This was my favorite course yet.

This course is so much more than game reviews. I love that it has so much theory for play as well as theory for how to look back at games. I also appreciated the more in-depth descriptions of what I did right and what I did wrong during the quizzes.

Lovely course. I hope you create more reviews of games, both amateur and professional. It's not easy to find these kinds of things in English 😉

More great content and teaching from Vadim. I liked how these reviews are organised between opening, mid and end game positions.

Very useful for me as a ddk close to sdk.

The puzzles are really well-curated to reinforce the ideas and principles from the content, and the in-video puzzles especially are a good reminder to be engaging actively with analyzing the game.

This course is great! I really appreciated seeing the basic rules & strategies applied in real games at a level I can understand. The quizzes are really useful, especially the "harder" questions of what should the player have done. I will watch "The Fundamentals of Go on 13×13" now before finishing this course with the 13x13 games.

The way you present all the materials and exemples makes it very addictive. I love the way you teach! So clear and to the point.

This course was challenging for me, but I did learn a thing or two. My main problem was trying to figure out what games the instructor was referring to during the course. I guess I missed something. Still this course made me think and I'm glade I took it before moving on to the 19x19 course.

Really well-thought-out course. I'm around 15 kyu and it was very useful for me. Nice examples and quizzes.

Absolutely well-delivered to the extent that I've learnt much more than reading from books!

Honestly I can’t understand all the tricks at the first glance but after I re-do the quiz it suddenly becomes almost clear )) Vadim you’re so cool and thanks a lot for your help and effort!
