A Go conflict demands new shapes
August 2026

In the first course, we learned several simple shapes that work as standard building blocks for peaceful situations: making territory, building moyos, attacking, and defending.

Now it’s time to take our understanding of shape to the next level. Go is a two-player game, and sooner or later, Black and White will collide. These conflicts are also governed by shape — one wrong extension, careless atari, or missed vital point can quickly decide the game.

In this course, we’ll explore how stones develop, connect, cut, and fight. We’ll build a practical vocabulary of Go shapes, learn to use walls effectively, study good and bad exchanges, and discover the shapes that emerge in all kinds of fighting scenarios.

Suitable for: 13k – 4k who already watched Go Shapes: Level 1
