This course is the perfect starting point for beginners who have just learned the rules of Go and are looking to understand the basics of strategy and tactics on a 13×13 board. It’s an essential foundation that will also prepare you for playing on the more complex 19×19 board.
Once you’re comfortable with the material in this course, we recommend progressing to the more advanced Deeper into the game of Go on 19×19, which is the final course of our elementary trilogy designed to guide you from not knowing the rules to mastering the fundamentals and reaching a solid 12-10 kyu level.

A great course for beginners. I believe that strategy section could be expanded a little more but maybe 19x19 course is the place for that.
This course was very helpful in making the step up from 9x9. Most other sources jump from 9x9 beginner/tactical lessons all the way to the daunting 19x19 board. The commented game was particularly helpful for showing how many of these bits fit together.

As a beginner, I often make mistakes, but this course really helped me improve. It is extremely pedagogical, giving a clear approach to understanding the board and building solid foundations. Exercises within the videos reinforce learning, helping to grasp even complex concepts. Quizzes are linked to the skill tree, allowing easy back-and-forth to practice and fully understand what you’re doing.
This is a great course. This course taught me allot but I really had to put my thinking cap on for some of it, so I;m taking the review course before moving on to the 19x19 course. Thanks Go Magic for another interesting and informative course, and I have to say Vadim is a very good instructor.
